About IPU Sundargarh

Integrated Physiotherapy Unit & Therapeutic Services is an initiative in the lines of National Health Mission guidelines with an objective to enable Physiotherapy and other therapy services like Speech therapy, behavior therapy and Occupational therapy to the people from mining-affected areas. The core beneficiaries are Children with developmental disorders, Persons with Disabilities, senior citizens with Mobility and pain issues and speech issues and others with therapy needs due to neuro and muscular issues.

A total of 10 CHC -IPU are established across the district along with 59 PHC level IPU s. CHC IPU s provide services full-time while PHC IPU s provide services one day a week along with home visits for the most needed. Each CHC IPU is expected to provide services a minimum of 15 People a day and PHC IPU to a minimum of 4 people a day.

 

The best practice engaged in IPU sis barrier-free services in terms of accessible infrastructure and transportation of the deserving beneficiaries by electric auto. Another best practice engaged is guided speech therapy, behavior therapy, and Occupational therapy in gross root areas which is rarely observed due to lesser human resources in rural areas in specific fields.

 

The much appreciable features are a live interactive dashboard with a concrete report format to assess the outcome and impact and specialist teleconsultations to the beneficiaries along with community integrated sensitization programs for the identification and early intervention and Convergence with line departments lie Disability welfare and Samagra siksha.
